2026 Stevens Family Calendar -- November

Since our October page did not have a strong fall vibe, I created a November design that was decidedly autumnal.

Like most of what we did in the calendar this year, this page was not location-based, but instead focused on landscapes with yellow and orange foliage and warm lighting. Iceland dominates the two-page spread, but it also features shots from Greenland, Colorado and Wyoming. Let’s take a look …

The top left photo on the main page features one of Iceland’s iconic views, Ingjaldshóll Church on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It is one of many red-roofed white houses of worship that are common throughout Iceland and often make for charming photos.

We used the left but not the upper right of Ingjaldshóll; a shot of Snæfellsnes’ black-and-white Búðakirkja in Búðir is on the calendar page; Left: Scott Stevens
The next shot of the main page is a favorite subject from our trip to Greenland: two Muskoxen squaring off in the Bjørneøer (Bear islands) area of Scoresby Sund. These two were our best animal encounter of a great trip in September 2025. You can read about them here.

We took many, many photos of the Muskoxen, but only considered the few best ones for the calendar.

This was the closest and most dramatic of these curious creatures
We considered these other unused shots for the main or calendar page; Top right: Scott Stevens
The next shot on the main page is worlds away from Greenland and Iceland and much closer to home: Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.

Scott had zipped over to the Park looking for fall foliage and he succeeded
These beautiful yellow trees were also in the mix, but ultimately not used; Photos: Scott Stevens
The rest of the main page is two shots taken in Iceland as winter started to set in.

This shot of a golden mountain on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula is one of my favorites
We stumbled on this gorgeous ravine called Gljufurá, which appears on the main page,
while driving northeast of Snæfellsnes
These two photos that we didn’t use show a bridge over the ravine; Right: Scott Stevens

We continued the golden fall theme on the calendar page. The first tall photo also comes from Great Sand Dunes …

We considered all of these and used the one on the left; Photos: Scott Stevens
The next tall shot is Búðakirkja, which I already showed you. Next is at a spot on Snæfellsnes that we had passed on previous trips, but never visited before.

We used the photo of Raudfeldsgja, a deep cleft in the mountain, on the left,
but rejected the others here; Middle: Scott Stevens
The next calendar page shot comes from Holm Bugt, Kong Oscar Fjord, Greenland, as the sun sinks below the horizon.

Something about fall suggests migrating birds, so the calendar page features two kinds of waterfowl, found on different continents: an American Wigeon in Grand Teton National Park and a Whooper Swan in Grundarfjörður, Iceland.

The flying American Wigeon, right, and the Whooper Swan, top left, are on the page;
we did not use the Barnacle Geese, lower left, also photographed in Grundarfjörður
The final square on the calendar page was on of many landscape photos we considered to satisfy the autumn these.

We used the striking Grundarfjörður cliff, left, and passed on the others; the top and bottom right are on the west coast of Snæfellsnes; the middle right is a basalt cliff in Stykkishólmur, Iceland
Unused Photos
We had so many lovely fall-like photos to consider for this page that some were, inevitably left on the (figurative) cutting-room floor. Here are others we considered …

This dramatic black basalt mountain with autumn-toned tundra
climbing up the sides on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Multiple waterfalls cascading down a Snæfellsnes mountainside
Multiple shots of Bjarnarfoss and the Bjarnaá River, also on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Two wide shots giving different perspectives on Iceland: marshes on Hrútafjörður, top, and the pass on Highway 54 that bisects the Snæfellsnes Peninsula; Bottom: Scott Stevens

Although no photos from Alaska or Colorado ended up on the November pages, we did consider a few …

An Orb Weaver Spider, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Moose and a Golden Eagle, Denali National Park, Alaska; Upper left: Caty Stevens; Remaining photos: Scott Stevens
Finally, as is fitting, a sunset shot, this one in Kong Oscar Fjord, Greenland; Photo: Scott Stevens
That’s what we looked at, used and rejected for a warm-colored November page.
